Musical Director

Ger Condon began his musical journey with the Mayfield Boys Brass Band at the age of 10. He was awarded a scholarship to the Cork School of Music at the age of 11 where he studied with Carbry O’ Sullivan.  Ger continued to play with the Mayfield Brass Band as well as The Cork School of Music Concert Band.

For the past 25 years he has been the principal conductor of Clonakilty Brass Band and has also conducted Blarney Brass & Reed Band. Ger Condon has the unique distinction of conducting Blarney Brass & Reed Band and Clonakilty Brass Band to winning both the Senior and Intermediate Sections respectively in the same year at the South of Ireland Bands Championships in 2011.

Ger is also a past member of the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble and the Junior National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland with whom he toured France, Belgium and Luxembourg on two separate occasions. He has also been a past member of The Cork Youth Orchestra and The Cork Symphony Orchestra.

He has played in numerous Opera Productions with Opera Ireland. He has performed the Verdi Requiem with the Dusseldorf Symphony Orchestra and performed regularly in Musicals in the Cork and Kerry Region.

Ger has taken masterclasses with world renowned Soloists and Teachers such as Frank Duppenbecker, Graham Ashton, Kristen Steenstrup, Allen Vizutti and Reinhold Freidrich, John Wallace and Crispen Steel Perkins.

Ger is currently teaching Brass with the Cork ETB School of Music.
